...No one is born as street kids in the real sense of the word.  It is the society and the evils of the systems that shapes the children into street children…

The term street-children refers to those children for whom the street has become a home more than their family. There are many reasons behind this phenomenon of street children. Poverty, broken families, neglect of parents, lack of opportunities for quality education, natural calamities, increase in the incidence of life threatening diseases like HIV etc. are some of the ostensible causes of this issue. All these are the by-product of neo-liberal globalization, privatization, rapid industrialization and mechanization that produce unemployment
and poverty. This has resulted into social unrest causing family crisis and breakdown resulting into the increase of street children.
It is estimated that India has about 350 million children out of its population of one billion. The research reveals that there are about 20 million street children in India. In Mumbai alone there are about one lakh of these street children fight for their survival on her railway platforms, streets and pavements.
Jan Vikas Society makes its humble efforts towards the amelioration of these less fortunate children especially street children and rag pickers of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, towards growing them in health, in peace and dignity.

The Important Projects for these purposes are:

With the object of ensuring a rightful place for these exploited children, Jan Vikas Society go all-out with its process of reaching out and providing for the fulfilment of basic needs of such children. The Society effectively manages two rehabilitation centres and six day care centres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

Different Centers:

Children are the future of any society. Each child is a blend of different potentialities. To explore the intrinsic talents and develop them to its fullest is the responsibility of each adult who associates with the child. This will help in actualizing the individuality of the child and making him a mature and self sufficient man or woman in his or her future. Jan Vikas Society, as it has taken upon itself the care for the less fortunate children of the society, has contributed greatly in growth of such children through its different projects.
