“Bend of the road is not the end of the road.”
What we have done to alleviate the plight of street children may be like a drop in the ocean. However, we are convinced that with out that drop the ocean would not be complete. We have come a long way and we need to do a lot more. The problems of street children are not resolved completely. The increasing number of children coming on to the street is a threat to the society. Creating alternative methods to enter into the lives of these children and develop their wounded ego is a hard task. We are committed to work for the furthering interests of Jan Vikas Society for the welfare of Street children and rag-picking children. Jan Vikas Society envisages the following plans for the coming years.
We invite every person of good will to join hands with us.
School:
Jan Vikas Society wishes to raise a school
of its own to facilitate the education of these children
who are otherwise scattered in different schools of Navi
Mumbai. The realization of this goal will considerably
help in the solution of many of the problems associated
with the existing care.
Supportive Education Movement (SEM) :
Every Child has a right to basic education. Jan Vikas Society is committed to ensuring that no child is deprived of their right. To cater to the unorganized group of children of migrant labourers and the poorest of the poor, a supportive Education Movement has been envisaged.
Social Welfare Centre:
The Society also envisages opening a Social Welfare Centre,
where the children can correct themselves, un-learn the
bad habits and re-learn many good things.
Mobile Clinic:
In collaboration with the Medical Trust of the Archdiocese
of Mumbai, the Society wishes to begin a new programme
called ‘Mobile Clinic’ for
improving the health of the marginalized people of Mumbai.
The ‘Mobile Clinic’ will stop at identified
locations and provide basic medical attention to the poor
and sick people on a regulated frequency.
School on Wheels:
It has also a concept of a ‘School on Wheels’.
This 'school' which will go to vulnerable areas educating
the children in the location where they are situated.
A Home for the HIV/AIDS Infected and Affected Boys:
The city of 21st century, Navi Mumbai is badly hit by the rapidly growing number of children, boys and girls affected and infected by HIV/ AIDS. No organization has come so far to provide specialized indoor care to this less fortunate children especially the boys. Jan Vikas Society is planning to embark upon yet another milestone by catering to such children in the near future.
